i-thriv is an organizational provider of mobile medical massage therapy and yoga for veterans. Sessions happen where the veteran already is — at home, not in a clinic waiting room — anywhere we operate across Southern California.

Care is delivered by CAMTC-certified massage therapists (CMTs) and certified yoga instructors who are identity-verified, insured, and screened before their first session.

How the program works

How it's paid

VA Community Care, administered by TriWest in this region. With an approved VA referral and authorization, eligible veterans generally pay nothing out of pocket. Claims are submitted through the VA Community Care Network.

Who can book

Veterans with an approved VA referral. Eligibility and authorization are determined by the VA, not by i-thriv.

What's covered

Medical massage therapy and yoga. Other i-thriv services are available as regular self-pay bookings but are not part of the VA Community Care program.

Where sessions happen

In the veteran's home or another location they choose, across Southern California. The provider brings the table, linens, and full setup.

Getting started

Community care runs through the VA. These are the steps in order — we help with the last two.

  1. 1

Talk to your VA care team

Ask your VA primary care provider or specialist about a community care referral for medical massage therapy or yoga. The VA decides whether you qualify.

  2. 2

    Get the referral authorized

Once approved, the VA or TriWest issues an authorization that names the approved service and number of visits.

  3. 3

    Ask for i-thriv by name

Tell your VA care coordinator or TriWest that you'd like your authorized visits delivered in-home by i-thriv. We can send our provider details directly to your coordinator.

  4. 4

    We schedule around you

Contact us with your authorization in hand and we'll match you with a certified professional and schedule at times that work for you.

VA & TriWest care coordinators

Veteran medical massage & yoga FAQs

Does the VA cover medical massage therapy?+

The VA can authorize medical massage therapy as part of its whole-health and pain-management care, and it may be delivered in the community when the VA approves a community care referral. Whether it is covered in a specific case is determined by the VA, not by i-thriv.

What does a veteran pay for a session?+

With an approved VA referral and authorization, eligible veterans generally pay nothing out of pocket. Claims are submitted through the VA Community Care Network. Any copay determination comes from the VA.

Which services are included?+

Medical massage therapy and yoga. Facials, nail care, spa parties, and other i-thriv services can be booked as regular self-pay appointments, but they are not part of the VA Community Care program.

Can a family member or caregiver book on the veteran's behalf?+

Yes. A spouse, family member, or caregiver can arrange scheduling once the VA authorization is in place. The authorization must be in the veteran's name.

Where do sessions take place?+

In the veteran's home or another location they choose, anywhere i-thriv operates across Southern California. The provider brings the massage table, linens, and full setup.

Who are the providers?+

Massage therapists are CAMTC-certified (CMT) and yoga is delivered by certified instructors. Every provider is identity-verified, insured, and screened before their first session.

How do I ask for i-thriv specifically?+

Tell your VA care coordinator or TriWest that you would like your authorized visits delivered in-home by i-thriv, and share our contact details. We can send credentialing information directly to your coordinator.

i-thriv is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or TriWest Healthcare Alliance. Eligibility, referral approval, and coverage are determined solely by the VA. This page is informational and is not a guarantee of coverage or payment.
